A festival for adults and kids alike, the first annual Haunted Hannibal Festival dedicates an entire weekend to the celebration of pumpkins, fall, spooks, tricks, and treats. Join us in downtown Hannibal for spooktacular fun. From trick-or-treating, haunted houses, Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tours, spooky storytelling, a Halloween parade, and many more surprises!

Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tours

  • Nightly at 7pm

  • Departs from Hannibal History Museum

Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tours are available year round! Climb aboard our shuttle -- we'll do the driving -- and enjoy a spine-tingling guided tour of many of Hannibal’s most notoriously haunted sites, both past and present! You'll hear stories of murder and mischief during Mark Twain’s boyhood, meet the present-day ghosts of the mansions on Millionaires' Row, and learn which buildings on historic Main Street are purported to be haunted. Each tour includes a guided exploration of Old Baptist Cemetery where you'll walk amongst the graves of slaves and civil war soldiers to search for signs of paranormal activity!

Jaycees Warehouse of Nightmares

  • Every Friday and Saturday from 7:30-midnight

  • October 31st, Blackout Night from 7-10pm.

Plenty of scares to be had this Halloween Season at The Hannibal Jaycees Warehouse of Nightmares. Scares and Thrills await you at every twist and turn of the house. With over 20 rooms and the house completely redone...EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! Zombie Paintball and Escape Rooms are available as well.

New to 2019 is a safe, no-scare zone for both children and adults while the rest of your party. The zone will feature family friendly Halloween movies, hot chocolate, and popcorn.

Are you afraid of what is lurking in the dark inside the Warehouse of Nightmares? We promise our Clowns have had their shots!

Main Street Trick-or-Treat

  • October 31st, from 5-8pm

  • Historic Main Street

Enjoy a traditional, outdoor, door-to-door and trunk or treating event all on Main Street in historic downtown Hannibal! Halloween activities, booths, and decorated trunk or treats will line the street while downtown merchants will pass out candy from their stores. The event will start on 5pm on Halloween day and run until 8pm.

Hannibal Jaycees Trunk-or-Treat

Hannibal Jaycees Members will fill their lot with decorated Trunk-or-Treats. Stick around after for their black out night in the Haunted House.

Boo Bash Trick-or-Treat Trail

  • October 26th from 10a-12p

  • Sodalis Nature Trail

The YMCA of Hannibal will be hosting the 2nd Annual Boo Bash Trick or Treat Trail hosted at Sodalis Nature Preserve. Bring the whole family and visit our treat destinations hosted by businesses and organizations from our community! Food will be available for purchase. Free event for the public.

39th Annual Hannibal Police Department Kids Halloween Party

  • October 31st from 5:30-8:30pm

  • Admiral Coontz Armory

Join Hannibal’s Police Department for their annual safe kids Halloween Party. The purpose for this event is to provide a safer place for the children to celebrate the Halloween holiday. Costume contest from ages birth thru adult. There will be lots of games, candy, and prizes. Children from birth thru age 12 and their parents are welcome. The funds for this event were donated from the citizens of Hannibal and local businesses. This event is free of charge.

Halloween Street Dance & Costume Party

  • Friday, October 25th, 7pm-12a

  • Historic Main Street

Get those Halloween costumes ready, because this party will be one to remember! Dance up and down historic main while the Main Street DJ plays all your favorite hits. Yard games will be spread up and down the street. Enjoy food and drink from all your favorite downtown dining establishments.

Dance admission is FREE!!

Night Hike through Sodalis Nature Preserve

  • Sodalis Nature Preserve

  • Friday, October 25th from 5:30-8:00pm

The Hannibal Park’s Department Night Hike program will cover the history of the lime kiln mines, the Sodalis success story and life cycle of the endangered Indiana bat. Seasonal nature observations will be made along the path. Participants can stay with the group for an hour then return to the parking lot on their own; or remain with the guide to continue around the 2-mile loop for the full 2-hour program.
Gale Rublee, Hannibal Parks & Recreation nature educator, will lead the hike. She has previously been a naturalist and teacher at Shaw Nature Reserve in St. Louis and has been a storyteller and actor. She is the coordinator and teacher for the Bluff City Theater Youth Education Theater Initiative.
The Night Hikes are free but reservations must be made by calling Hannibal Parks & Recreation at 221-0154 or emailing mlrichards@hannibal-mo.gov. Participants are asked to meet in the parking lot of Sodalis Nature Preserve.

Jaycees Halloween Parade

  • Broadway and North Main Street

  • Saturday, October 26th at 6pm

Come downtown for the annual Halloween Parade hosted by The Hannibal Jaycees! The Parade begins on Broadway in the Save-a-Lot parking lot heading towards the Mississippi and turning left down North Main Street.

Also during the same evening:
5-8pm: Living Dead Windows
6pm: HOWLoween Pet Parade (N. Main)
7pm-12am: Jaycees Haunted House

If you would like to enter a float in the parade please contact Jaycees 2019 Halloween Parade Chairs, Brady Bowen (573-795-1415) or Kenna Bogue (kennabogue@gmail.com). Parade entry fee is a $10 donation to Hannibal’s Project Graduation.

Living Dead Windows

  • Historic Main Street and Side Street

  • Saturday, October 26th from 5-8pm

Coming October 26th from 5 to 8pm the downtown merchants of historic Hannibal bring you Living Dead Windows! Each window of the downtown comes to life with a haunted Halloween scene. Stroll downtown and interact with the live scenes that make historic downtown Hannibal the place to be Halloween weekend.

Also during the festivities will be not one, but TWO Halloween parades! Both start at 6:00pm. The Hannibal Jaycees Parade begins on Broadway and head left down North Main. The 2 Besties Biscuits and NEMO Humane Society HOWLoween Pet Parade begins on North Main ending on the M.UT.S. Stage for a pet costume contest.

HOWLoween Pet Parade

Our 3rd year!!! Our tails are wagging just thinking about it!!!
Gather your PAWS & CLAWS and meet 2 Besties Biscuits at Broadway and Main in front of Chocolaterie Stam. Have your pets in costume and there at 5:45pm. At the strike of 6pm the procession will begin down Main Street and end at the M.U.T.S. Stage where your pet’s costume will be judged. The human Halloween parade will follow shortly. Afterwards enjoy the rest of your evening downtown at the Living Dead Windows for more holiday fun!

🎃Judges will award 5 costumes with cool PRIZES

-All pets must remain on a non-retractable leash
-All pets must be current on vaccinations
-No aggressive or anxious animals
-Pick up after your pet
-All pets must remain with an Adult at all times
-One pet per Adult
